Broken by Default

What it is

Broken by Default is a newsletter for indie hackers who ship fast and market slow. Every Tuesday, I tear down one broken indie SaaS landing page (or launch, or profile) and give you the specific fix — the kind you can paste into your site before lunch.

Not a news roundup. Not "7 tools for X." One idea, one fix, 300–500 words.

Format

Four rotating pillars:

  • Tear-Down — I audit a real indie SaaS publicly
  • Framework — one tight tool you can use immediately
  • Hot Take — a counterintuitive opinion pushing against founder-Twitter consensus
  • Reader Audit — a subscriber submits, I roast it in public

Why I'm building it

I'm building MarketMyApp and Helpmarq — both tools for indie founders who struggle with marketing. The newsletter is the content loop that feeds them. Real audit data from real products, turned into weekly issues that drive back to the products.

Current status

Exploring. Strategy locked, content pillars defined, 10 issue ideas pre-drafted. Setting up Beehiiv, building the welcome sequence, connecting the ManyChat → subscriber loop before launch.
